Presents from the Sky describes the 50th birthday of Paul Klee. His friends Anni Albers and numerous artists hired an airplane, equipped presents with a parachute and dropped them from the sky for the waiting Klee. A grand artistic prank to show how much the artist was revered.

The basic structure began as a simple acoustic part, which is what Johnny performs live. He layered cello, string, and harmonizer guitar layers using various guitar effects. Regula dropped sequencer, drums, her bass and vocals in causing the song to evolve further.

The video clip of the song features a whimsical flying machine, which inspired Johnny to also put some machine noises onto the track at the point where it mentions, “a flying machine soaring on high,” and during the reprise of Floating Free.
